    1. How did you decide to multiply 12 and 8?

  2. Me and Samuela think and decided that there are 9 adults and 3 kids on every 8 tables. We went 3X8 because there were 3 kids on every table, which equals 24. Then you add 24 and 72 together witch equals 96, and here you go this is the answer my partner and I came up with. We're not sure if its correct or incorrect.

    1. Your multiplication seems solid enough, but how did you come up with 8 tables?

  3. William and I started to answer this question by drawing 8 tables. I put 9 adults at each table because I know that 9 X 8 is 72. I added 3 more to each table because there are 12 at each table. I haven't finished this yet, but I think I will be able to soon.

    1. I know that there are 8 tables with 12 at each. 8 X 12 = 96. I think there were 96 guests altogether

  5. Dear Mr Barks,
Jay'Lee, Mary L and I think that the answer is 96 because .....

So the first thing we did was to look at how many adults per table and the answer we got was 9. Then we did 9 adults plus how many children equals 12 which was 3. So it means that there are 3 children per table. Then we did 9 x something equals 72 because there are 72 adults at the banquet but 9 adults at each table. Next thing we did was multiple 9 by 8 which equals 72. After that we multiple 3 x 8 because there's 3 children at each table. We got the 8 from the timetable factor from 72, and then our last step was adding 72 and 24 together to create our magical answer " 96 "

  6. Grace and Serena decided this is the answer because we work really hard figuring out the strategies and the answer.

There's 9 adults at each table and there's 3 children at each table and all together there are 72 adults , but there are 3 children at each table so 72 x 3 =____ so 70 x 3 = 210 and 2 x 3 = 6 put the answers together and it makes it 216.

Grace and Serena thinks this is the answer because we work really hard figuring out the answer.

    Hey Mr Barks,
We have solved the problem, We started by counting up all the adult's including the kids. So our group and I counted all the Kids first, which numbered 24 kids. After, we counted how much adults there were, and there were 72 then we added them toogether and there was 96..Like 24x72=96

    Alexandria & Porscha.
We started off using popsicle sticks, and found out that there were 8 tables, because 9x8=72 that what we think. The kids filled up the 3 spaces that were left so 3 times eight = 24.So 72 + 24 = 96.
    96 is our answer?

Eleva and I had decided that if we draw 8 tables that seats 12 people each.So there were 9 adults at each table and the rest of the table space is occupied by children. So we decided that if we added 3 kids to each tables it will make 12 people at each tables. So this is how we did our maths we did 8x9=72+20+4=96 and we think this 96 is our answer.

    1. Drawing is always a great strategy to help visualize the problem isn't it? I understand where you got the 8x9=72, but could you please explain the +20+4 to = 96. Where did these numbers come from? Thanks for such a great effort girls!

  12. Faa'ao, Taeshell and I think it is 96 because, 3x4= 12 and we double the12 And that is 24 and then we did 70 + 20 =90 and then we did 4 + 2 =6 and that is how we got 96
