  1. JayLee, Huelo-ata and I think that the answer is $4.52 because

We did $0.59 times 4 which made $2.36. Then we did $0.78 times 4 which made $3.12. Then we added $2.36 and $3.12 together which made $5.48. Then after that we used our heads to fine out what was left over, and the answer is $4.52.

    1. Nice use of your heads! Now, please tell me about the thinking that was going on. Are you correct? How do you know?

  2. Jessica and Grace thinks that the answer is ?

Dani and Brad were planting a vegetable garden outside their classroom.
They brought pea and cucumber seeds.
Each packet of seed cost $0.78 for each packets.
They brought for packets of each seeds and gave the bill of ten dollars.
    How much did they receive.
    So 4x0.59=2.36 and 4x0.79=3.12
so 2.36+3.12=5.48 so they received 3.52

  3. Kayden and I write 60c x4 =$2.40 then we did 80c and x4 and it is =$2.20 and we double it and that =$5.60 and Brad gave the cashier a ten dollar bill and we think the change is $4.52

    1. Great thinking fellas, it looks like you did some rounding to make the numbers easier to work with. I'd love to hear more about how you sorted the change.

First we did $0.59X4 which was $2.36, then after we did $0.78X4 which equalled $3.12. Then we added $2.36, $3.12 together and that equalled $5.48. Then we figured out how much change that they would get from $10.00, and the we found that it was $4.52.
