    2. Jephte & Richard and Kamire think it is 1.30 because $1+$1=$2 and 30+30=60 and thats how we got it

  3. Please explain your thinking! How did you arrive at $1.80?

    $1.80 + 40c equals $2.20
    $1.80 + 40c + another 40c equals $2.60

    1. Yes I agree with your way how to explain with the work instead of explaining about the answer

    2. I like your work Kingston and Jesiah! How did you decide to use 40 cents in your equation?

  5. There's 2 apples, they both equal $0.40C each and if you double them it will equal 80C. and the bar is $1.80 and if you add them together you will get $2.60C

    2 Apples 40c each=80c + chocolate= $1.80= $2.60

    2. I do agree with you Tui because I do think that 1 chocolate bar cost $1.80c which is right. But the question is? How did you get it.

    3. That's how I got it by trying to sort how much the apples cost and I found out that the apples were 40cents each and the first equation was 2 apples and 1 chocolate bar equals $2.60 and the bar is $1.80 and 2 apples are 40c= 80c and adding the $1.80 from the bar equals $2.60 and that's my way!!

We agree with Jesiah and Kingston that each apple cost 40c and each chocolate bar cost $1.80
    $1.80 + 40c = $2.20
    $1.80 + 80c = $2.60

  7. We think it is $1.80 because when we look at the first equation it was $2.60, and
It had 2 apples, one chocolate, and the second one had 1 apple and cost 2.20 and the difference is 40c off. So we took off 40c from the 2nd equasion and is 1.80.....:)

    1. Thanks Starford, now I can see where everyone was getting the 40 cents for one apple. I think equasion should be equation.

  8. This is all very interesting and educational but I think that the point we are all overlooking here is...why didn't anyone buy me chocolate? I like chocolate. A lot.
