Team up with a couple of friends and solve the following problem.

REMEMBER...your thinking and strategies are the most important points to share.

thinks that if Marcus had $4.50 and he spent 2/5 of it on a DVD player. He then spent 1/3 of the remaining money on a jacket.
How much money did Marcus have.
We think that our answer is 446.2
because we went on the calculator 450-2.5-1.3=446.2

    1. From your calculations, I am assuming that you converted 2/5 into 2.5 and 1/3 into 1.3. Can you explain your thinking with more detail so I can follow. If I eat 2/5 of something (pizza, cake, pie) does this mean that I ate 2.5 of them? Just wondering. I love your effort with a tough problem!
