    thinks that if Marcus had $4.50 and he spent 2/5 of it on a DVD player.He then spent 1/3 of the remaining money on a jacket.
    How much money did Marcus have.
    We think that our answer is 446.2
    because we went on the calculator 450-2.5-1.3=446.2

    1. From your calculations, I am assuming that you converted 2/5 into 2.5 and 1/3 into 1.3. Can you explain your thinking with more detail so I can follow. If I eat 2/5 of something (pizza, cake, pie) does this mean that I ate 2.5 of them? Just wondering. I love your effort with a tough problem!
